Sneak Peek - Scoring

One of the new features is that scoring now works differently.
The number of views a logo get is now no longer counted as part of a logo’s score (and therefore does not contribute towards a designers overall score).
Secondly we’ve removed the negative scoring of a 1 bottle vote. Now we’ve simplified scoring as follows.
- 1 bottle = 1 point
- 2 bottles = 2 points
- 3 bottles = 3 points.
- Competition win = 100 points
This is simple and clear.
At the same time we have had a lot of feedback about the voting of some members being misdirected or poorly judged. There have been calls for some sort of Kharma rating system. This essentially means that members that have more “value” to the community should have more influence on scoring.
To this end we’re also introducing “Pro Designer” accounts. Pro Designers have been qualified (more on that later) and subsequently each of their votes is worth more.
- 1 bottle = 2 points
- 2 bottles = 4 points
- 3 bottles = 6 points
- Competition win = 100 points
This will most likely have a significant impact on designers scores and we expect to see a rearranging of overall “designer rank” when we go live.

Sounds good Digger. What about undecided competitions where the client doesn’t choose a winner? e.g. PJM, Bothnia, Leana? Any idea what is going to happen in these situations?
so the “Pro Designers” how would you become one, is it based on how good your skills are, how many competitions you have won or how long you have been around, because i am still pretty much as active as i was i just havent submitted any logo’s however i plan too soon.
@YoungGold – stay tuned – we’ll let you know soon.
what if a situation arises when someone reaches a 100 points and the competition holder doesn’t find the logo to his taste but finds another logo submitted which has a lower point then a 100 and would like that logo would that person have to just stick with the logo with the highest points. people’s views may differ so i don’t know, some people might cheat as vote less for people to reduce the chance of them winning or something. thanks
These sound like very practical changes Digger – solid thinking (as usual).
@Jack999 – I’m pretty sure the point count is a separate thing altogether from who wins a given design competition. Winners are chosen by the contest holder no matter what.

In addition when a client rates an entry this vote is also treated as more important and there is a multiplier effect on each of the clients votes.
