Suncoast Market
Profile: Maya De Nardi
Company:
Opens: 23 July 2010
Closes: 22 August 2010
Prize value: US$220.00
Details:
We have recently purchased a well established local business formerly known as Suncoast Wholesale Meats and Seafood. Since taking over we are attempting to increase our visability within the local area and have changed our name to Suncoast Market.
We are now primarily a retail store which comprises of a butchery, green grocer with limited grocery products. Our plan is to expand to include a deli at this stage. We no longer sell seafood.
Our business is situated in a coastal town. The immediate area surrounding the business are mostly retirees and young families, while only minutes away we have a booming tourist destination that seems to be untapped.
We are after a logo which will be well recognised in the local area. The logo will be used on advertising, business cards, loyalty cards, letterhead, embroidered onto work shirts and used on our website (which is yet to be built).
Our core brand values are “Quality, fresh produce” and “Value for money”
Our current market is varied ranging from University students to Senior Citizens (aka people on a budget). We would like to start attracting more individuals who have a higher amount of disposable income (without scaring off our original customers).
In the past there has been a big emphasis and promotion on the “budget” aspect of our business without any real emphasis on the high quality of produce we carry.
Our logo should be
- Clean and simple in appearance - Effective in full colour and monochrome - The words “Suncoast Market” should be incorporated into the logo (If possible, a logo where the words “Suncoast Market” could be removed without losing integrity of the design would be great but not essential)
Please email me any questions you may have.
Thanks in advance for considering our competition.

Hey fellow designers – I just want to point out that a lot of you have been separating the name Suncoast into two words. Their name should be Suncoast – all one word. I know it’s not my job to point these things out, but I didn’t want any designs to be ruled out because of that detail.
Hi everyone!
It’s great have received so many logo submissions already!! With the submissions we have already received it has made it clear to me that I should probably be more clear in regards to the direction we would like to go. I’m going to throw some ideas and thoughts of what our logo would represent.
We are a family business so I think our logo should not be too corporate looking. We want a logo which looks warm, friendly and inviting.
Think
- Picnics at the beach
- Roast dinners on a cold winters day
- BBQ’s in the backyard with friends
- Big family gatherings where there is always too much food, a lot of laughter and memories are shared and created.
If those images don’t inspire you then maybe the following quotes may give you some ideas:
One of the very nicest things about life is the way we must regularly stop whatever it is we are doing and devote our attention to eating. ~Luciano Pavarotti and William Wright, Pavarotti, My Own Story
All happiness depends on a leisurely breakfast. ~John Gunther
Happiness is a bowl of cherries and a book of poetry under a shade tree. ~Astrid Alauda
Talking of Pleasure, this moment I was writing with one hand, and with the other holding to my Mouth a Nectarine — how good how fine. It went down all pulpy, slushy, oozy, all its delicious embonpoint melted down my throat like a large, beautified Strawberry. – John Keats (1795 – 1821)
Basically it’s about buying food which will make you feel warm, cosy and fabulous from people who appreciate the value of beautiful core ingredients.
Cheers, Maya & Dave
