New logo for financial news website: FinanzNachrichten.de
We are looking for a new logo for our internet project FinanzNachrichten.de ( http://www.finanznachrichten.de ).
“Finanznachrichten” means “financial news” in German language with a “.de” as it’s a German domain.
With more than 10 million page impressions per month our project is the biggest financial news website and one of the biggest financial websites in German language.
As many people already know our current design (website founded in the year 2000), I think that we should stick with the colours red/black/white/grey.
For our users everything is for free on our website. News, stock prices, a news watchlist, etc.
We generate our income through advertising. Our clients are mainly online brokers, banks and insurance companies. So the new logo needs to look serious on the one hand side, but not too boring on the other hand side as our users should remember it and visit our website again.
For the new logo, I can see the following 3 options:
1) A completely new symbol + text “FinanzNachrichten.de” below
2) A symbol for “FN” + FinanzNachrichten.de + the claim below
3) FinanzNachrichten.de + the claim below
The claim “Alle News zu Aktien, Börse und Wirtschaft” means in English “All news about shares, stock market and economy”.
I am open minded and maybe there is a better way that I have not thought of. However, the logo must look good on a white background.
As usual the logo must work with different formats, both digital (on the website) and print (on business cards). So we prefer vector based logos which have to be delivered as SVG. After we have picked and paid the logo, the logo’s author will surrender all rights on the logo to us.
I will follow the competitions and will give feedback along the way, so please don’t hesitate to ask any questions!!
Good luck and thank you for your time and effort!
Markus

Hi!
First of all thanks a lot to all participants of the competition and for every logo. You all did a great job – it was amazing to follow all the new logos on every day of the competition!
Finally it was a very difficult job for us to pick out the best logo for our website.
All the best,
Markus
Something is copyrighted the instant you produce it, by placing a tm on it you are then announcing that this is what you then claim as a functioning part of your business. Here’s where it get really complicated and very expensive as you can then register the mark or logo as a whole or part of ,in order to gain a registered mark (R in a circle) a title search etc is then undertaken and this is a very involved process and most companies will never go this far.
fabs…my fault for not knowing it’s been around. It’s probably not a great idea to use something that can’t be copyrighted. Nice symbol though.
Cwilk, that shape is called an impossible triangle and is a mathematical diagram and if credit is due then the mathematician that originally envisioned the formula for this to work deserves the credit.
The concept of mine is using this that nothing is impossible financially; the arrow shape is a replacement for the universal internet go button.
Markus, it looks as though one of the logos you’re interested in is identical to this previous entry from another artist. Making it line art doesn’t make it a different symbol. The original artist may want to consider entering it into your competition so that credit and copyrights are given where due.
Hi!
As you have noticed, we have extended the competition. We did this as we have been asked by several designers to do so and as we still don’t have 1 top favorite, but some top favorites.
Here are our top favorites for the moment (in order of the 3 different designers of the logos).
I hope that I can give you a hint what we like best!
Markus
