Details:
I am a professional lifestyle and wedding photographer. I am in the process of rebranding and working on building a solid identity for my photography business, Studio 423 Photography.
My photography style is photojournalistic in nature and non-traditional, non-conventional. Studio 423 is about pushing the envelope and putting a fresh spin on traditional photography.
I have two core target markets.
My primary portrait market is highschool seniors…usually girls (because let’s face it…guys just don’t want to be photographed) who are vibrant, hip and on the cutting edge of fashion. They want to be different. They don’t want another picture of them by a tree.
My 2nd market is my wedding clients. These couples are typically between the ages of 25-35, college educated professionals, upper income and appreciate the arts. They are sophisticated yet fun! They are also fashion forward and detail oriented. They pull out all the stops when planning their wedding and want to create a truly unique event.
Both groups are unconventional, non traditional and energetic. They are usually techies and very internet savvy. Reading blogs is a daily ritual.
The Studio 423 brand needs to be something that can appeal to both of these groups seamlessly. I need something urban and funky yet sophisticated and elegant. With that in mind, I also would like something that could ultimately stand the test of time. I want a logo that I can build a solid identity and brand around. It will be the center of my entire business.
Some helpful key words that encompass the Studio 423 philosophy:
- unconventional
- non-traditional
- chic
- mod
- relaxed
- young
- fresh
- innovative
- cutting edge
- design savvy
Other details:
- The name should read “Studio 423 Photography”
- My tag line is “real.life.art.” (though i’m not that attached to it) it can be incorporated into the logo desing but it isn’t mandatory.
- I’m on the fence as far as incoporating an icon into the logo. I think ideally I’d like one as long as it’s not cheesy or cartoony I wouldn’t be opposed to using my initials if it was discreet and not obvious since i’m not operating under my name. Plain text could be fine too.
- Speaking of cheese: no cameras, film, lenses, or any other symbol that has to do with photography or weddings…so no tuxedos or curvy little cartoony chics either. :D
- design should be suitable for color or black & white print
- logo will be used on EVERYTHING…website, blog header, watermark, promotional materials, letterhead, business cards. etc.
I’m partial to deep jewel toned colors…blacks, browns, deep purples, golds, rusts, maroon. My current website doesn’t reflect this new direction but here are a couple great sites that might help show you where I’m heading.
Vector, full scalable complete file.
Thanks so much! I am totally stoked about this and can’t wait to see what ya’ll come up with! AND I’ll be blogging about logosauce. This is just complete ingenuity here! I’ll be checking in frequently and I’ll try to post as much feedback as I can.
Thanks again!

yeah… now it is time to choose a winner
9 days left! Thank you all!
I’ve tried to keep up with giving feedback individually but my schedule is hectic these days so I will give some overall feedback here.
I’m still searching for the perfect interpretation. Again, I like the incorporation of something representing the “423” I just haven’t seen anything that I think is it yet. I am preferring things the designs with simple clean fonts (maybe with one part of the text in script) and a small icon. I don’t want the icon to be the main focus unless it really ties into the “423”.
Understated and sophisticated.
Thanks!
upon looking at things again today I’ve found a few things that might be helpful.
I seem to be drawn more to the simplistic text designs…with maybe just a small icon or representation of the numbers 423. I’m not limiting things to this though. Even some unique, clever play on the intials…something that isn’t so random. I’m liking the much darker colors: black, deep maroon, deep purples, grey. I prefer the simple fonts to the bold, bubble or script fonts. Simple.Classy. Sophisticated. These seem to stand out the most at this point and seem to be heading in the right direction.

I don’t know that “the one” is out there yet so keep them coming. Thought this might help give a little more direction.
Thanks!
ok, i’ve been through all of the original entries and commented on each one. thank you all so much for your hard work. it is so appreciated. thank you for being open to my cc and i already see some of you have take my suggestions and worked in some new entries. i will try to continue to give feedback as often as i can.
again, thank you a million times over. i’m excited about this process and ya’ll are rockin’ it! :D thanks!
I’m sorry I’m slow to give feedback. I was gone for 4 days to a destination wedding. I appreciate the effort so far! I didn’t expect to have such a response so early on. Incredible. I will try to get to each individual entry and give a little feedback to each one. Here are a few comments overall
i’m enjoying the clever use and combination of the “423” especially w/ some icon that represents each number. super. I’m leaning towards a plain font. the scripts are ok if their aren’t too “scripty” I enjoy the logos with a smaller icon.
Overall, I am blown away by the talent here. Again, I think this is such an amazing concept and have enjoyed seeing entries not only in my own competition but in others as well. Great talent here!
Thank you!
If anyone has any questions or would like specific feedback sooner than I can give it please feel free to email me at chasity@studio423photo.com
is that possible to have some feedback at this stage?

Thanks to everyone who submitted. This was a hard choice and exactly why it took me the full two weeks to decide. Congrats Seedvibe!
