Details:

Active Driving Solutions is a small family-run business based in Lancashire, UK. We specialise in the delivery of Approved Driving Instructor Training and Fleet Driver Training courses.

Our website, company background and current logo can be seen at www.activedrivingsolutions.com. We are looking for a whole new dynamic logo design which is more contemporary, and without the ‘Ltd’ wording. Although we paid for the original design, I ended up designing most of it myself. As you can see, I’m no logo designer… so that’s why we’re asking for your professional help!

Our original concept of the red tick which forms the V was based around the red ‘L’ plate which learner drivers must display when learning to drive in the UK. However, we do not teach learner drivers. Although our main target market has been largely focussed on those who would like to become driving instructors (as well as qualified instructors looking to develop their skills), we are now seeking larger contracts with corporate clients in search of driver training services for their company fleet drivers.

As you will see from our website, we are wanting to portray a brand image which is:

• Friendly • Professional • Experienced • High quality • Extremely successful

We would like the logo to be clean, contemporary and eye-catching, designed independently of the current website’s look and colour scheme – we are planning a slight revamp of the website within the next 6 months, so if necessary the site’s colours can be changed to compliment the logo. In terms of colour and design… anything goes, really! However, please bear in mind that the logo will be signwritten on our company vehicles (we currently have two). Our main vehicle is a new silver Vauxhall Zafira, but we need a logo which is versatile enough to be placed on any colour of vehicle, even if that means changing/reversing the colours of the logo to suit.

As well as the new logo forming the basis for our company website and new stationery (business cards, letterheads, compliment slips, invoices, etc), it also needs to work in black and white / grayscale, as we have driver training reports printed on NCR pads.

The logo simply needs to read ‘Active Driving Solutions’. We are not too concerned about whether all or some of it is in upper or lower case at this stage.

We are really looking forward to seeing your designs – we have been extremely impressed by the quality of the designs on some of the other competitions. We will check the entries, answer any questions and make comments on a regular basis.

Many thanks!

May I firstly apologise for the delay in choosing a winner – we have been moving house all week, and I’ve only just had chance to sit down and go through each competition entry.

Many congratulations to marzy on the winning logo design – a really innovative and unique mark won it for us in the end, although the colours may need a final little tweak (I think his original black and orange logo actually worked better than the blue and orange one we asked for!)

Finally, I would like to thank each and every one of you for your excellent designs – there really were some fantastic entries which made choosing the ultimate winner VERY difficult!

Many thanks once again – I will definitely recommend my colleagues use this site for their logo design – you are a bunch of true professionals!

REVISED BRIEF / COMMENTS:

Just 1 week to go now – here’s a summary of our comments and suggestions:

IMPORTANT: We need the logo in hi-resolution format, editable in Illustrator or Photoshop, so please bear this in mind, as we will be requiring it for print and web purposes.

Colours – we are definitely in favour of two colours being used: either ORANGE & BLUE or LIGHT BLUE & DARK BLUE. We will consider GREEN, too. These are our favourites so far.

Logo graphic – needs to relate to the driving industry, but no L plates or steering wheels please. We do not want designs with ‘A’ or ‘ADS’ in it. Abstract images are fine, so long as they relate in some way to driving / roads.

Wording – Needs to read Active Driving Solutions, or activedrivingsolutions. If using the all lower case version, try to integrate ‘.com’ into the design somehow so that we can use it both as the company name and web address.

Vehicle graphics – The logo and some wording will be signwritten onto our vehicles, one of which is a silver Vauxhall Zafira. We have uploaded a zipped hi-res image of an example here: http://www.activedrivingsolutions.com/downloads/SIDE.zip (We’re not majorly keen on their logo design, which is why I’ve come to you guys for help. We like how they’ve designed the back half of the car though based on their logo – it’s very dynamic and eyecatching). All the wording in the example above will need to fit on the cars with the winning logo.

Image – We are very much at the higher end of the market. The overall concept needs to look extremely professional, and in no way tacky or cheap.

Thanks again for all your hard work – keep your ideas coming in, and the prize money could be yours! :-)
