Thank you. It’s same mark but different style in graphic. Example “Showinsider” competition, everyone using a same TV icon. The idea is original from the owner if i’m not wrong. Just to discuss anyway, no offence. Once again, thank you…

I must agree with mykal – it’s a distinctive enough concept that I feel Toon really deserves the credit for it’s conception. The iconic tv is in a different category in that it is not a distinctive concept and so, if it is to be used, all one can do is concentrate on excecution/stylistic differences. Where a clearly original and unique conception is concerned, the originator should get at least some of the credit – monitarily and otherwise. (No telling how many contests here and on other sites that I could have won if I were simply to improve upon someone else’s concept.)

Yeh no dis-respect to you Alfred but Toon was clearly the person who thought up the concept and design originally so some credit should got to him. but apart from that congratulations on your second win.
I am the one the one that chose Alfred as the winner. I will start by saying that this was a very difficult competition to choose from. There were many elements that were similar in the different designs submitted. As many of you know I went back and forth with you requesting different features be added or deleted. Maybe I am to blame for the perception of plagiarism by alfred. I do not agree. As the client, I see the originality in his design even if it was an enhancement on a certain element. From the clients perspective i will tell you that Alfred’s design was the one that spoke to me the deepest. I certainly feel it had enough original elements that it has his stamp on it as the designer. Again, I want to say how much I appreciate all the submissions. There was so much creativity and talent that was demonstrated. I wish you all the best success.

if its not plagiarism, then its enough to be classified as “definitely un-cool”…………………
Patrick, By your own admission the winning entry is an “enhancement on a certain element” of Toon’s design. The element in question is at the heart of the matter, that element being the unique amalgamation/juxtaposition of A’s, a Y, mountains, apexes, and an overall sense of achievement. Toon did it first even if Alfred followed-up with a presentation of the concept more pleasing to your eye (it is nice, by-the-way). Alfred’s presentation certainly did bear his “stamp” as you say, but it’s a stylistic stamp, not a conceptual one. With respect to Alfred, few here will disagree with me on this point: there can be little doubt that you would not have the logo you have if Toon had not started things off with such a strong idea. So again I say that props, monitary ones even, should be extended to Toon. Respectfully, RetroMetro/Steve (a 32 year veteren of these design trenches).

i don’t like the tiling-effect, but this is conform to the briefing. and i think the blue line made it strong and at all unique, maybe less spaced above and more under.
@ mia* if you read the brief again you will see that nowhere did it say use A’s and a Y as mountains and valleys Toon thought of that. This is a link to a literal reading of the brief ( http://logosauce.com/logos/26524 ).
Mykal. Please look at the symbol for Asic’s shoes. I would be curious based on on your Nike swoosh analogy. I am trying to learn about your industry and what is an original idea. Thank you.
Coach. Im not sure what you are talking about, but the current asic logo is a long way off from the nike swoosh. The corporate logo looks likes its a rebrand, but the line logo they put on thier shoes is made out of four lines, and if you look, its an A kind of laid back. I see very little resemblance other than the “motion” of the line.
heres what I do if I have a question about a logo. first, turn it into a black stamp version (black/white only) the reason for this is print and copy. Not everything that goes out of your office is in color, often things are photocopied, and unless you like to spend a lot on printing, there are other ways you are going to use the logo in b/w. As a matter of fact, a lot of designers wont even think about color until the client signs off on a black and white version. Step two is the easy part, set the stamp copies of the logos together, and make a comparison.
If you do this with your Nike/Asic example you will see that they have very little in common, where the one currently in question would look like Toons design flipped over.
Look her to see the asics logo: http://www.asicsamerica.com/
Guess this one died a slow death – too bad for you Toon. We tried. I’ll certainly be speaking up before contest’s end next time – this sort of thing just isn’t on.

BOOOOO ALFRED! How can you rip off someonelse\’s concept? No matter how you look at it…you ripped off Toon on this one! Toon is the winner here, not you Alfred!

Congratulations on trying to devalue an industry by ripping off a much better designer. If this is what you were trying to achieve, then well done!!! You should be proud to call yourself a designer.

Just looked at Toon’s original and this one here. Clearly copied, no doubt about it.

Very elegant and powerful
